how to
Wear OS watch and Kinni
Use this guide to install Kinni on Wear OS, allow watch sensor permissions, open Kinni on the watch, and confirm live heart rate is ready for your next run.
A Pixel Watch or another Wear OS watch can provide live heart rate while you record a Kinni run from your Android phone. The phone app remains the main control surface: choose the workout, start the run, stop the run, and review the session in Kinni on Android.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Use Kinni on Android with a paired Wear OS watch.
- Install Kinni on the watch from the Play Store if the setup screen shows Install Kinni.
- Keep the watch unlocked and worn so heart-rate measurement can work.
- Allow the watch sensor permissions when Kinni asks so setup can move to Ready.
Set up Wear OS watch
Section titled “Set up Wear OS watch”- In Kinni on Android, open Profile.
- Under Connected apps & devices, tap Wear OS watch.
- If the setup screen shows Install Kinni, open the Play Store on your watch, search for Kinni, and install Kinni.
- Return to Kinni on the phone and use Allow Permissions if the watch still needs body sensor or physical activity access.
- Check your watch for the permission prompt and allow the requested sensor access.
- Open Kinni on the watch once. The watch app should show Ready when it is installed, permissioned, and able to report status.
- Return to the Wear OS watch setup screen in Kinni. When every setup item is complete, Kinni should reconcile the watch automatically and show Connection status: Ready.
The setup screen uses three short checklist rows: Install Kinni, Allow Permissions, and Open Kinni on watch. Detailed install help appears in the How to install card so the checklist stays readable on phone screens.
Use Wear OS during a Kinni run
Section titled “Use Wear OS during a Kinni run”- Open Go Run or the workout run setup screen.
- Check Run devices for the Wear OS watch card.
- Start the Kinni run from the Android phone.
- Keep the watch on your wrist during the run so Kinni can receive live heart-rate updates.
- Stop the run from Kinni on the phone when you are finished.
When live heart rate is current, Kinni can show the BPM value on the Run devices card, the phone run screen, and the watch app. If the value is still measuring or unavailable, keep the watch awake, worn, and close to the phone.
What Wear OS does not replace
Section titled “What Wear OS does not replace”Wear OS watch support is not Health Connect. Wear OS is the live companion path for heart rate during a Kinni run; Health Connect is the Android health store used for completed-session import and export.
Wear OS also does not control your treadmill. Use Kinni’s treadmill connection articles for FTMS, FitShow, or treadmill-control questions.
If Wear OS is not ready
Section titled “If Wear OS is not ready”- Confirm the watch is paired with the Android phone you use for Kinni.
- Confirm Kinni is installed on the watch.
- Reopen Kinni on the watch and keep the watch unlocked.
- Tap Allow Permissions again if the permission prompt did not appear.
- If permissions were denied, open the watch’s app permissions for Kinni and allow the required sensor access.
- If heart rate stays unavailable, check that the watch is being worn snugly and that no other condition is preventing the watch from measuring heart rate.
